Since the introduction of the first GEL-Foundation in 1999, the goal for this series has been to provide maximum support to runners who need more than a standard stability shoe offers. To that end, the shoe offers a wide, supportive base that is surprisingly comfortable as well as a great fitting upper. These features will be reprised in the GEL-Foundation 9 but with a few changes in enhance the support offered and the upper fit.
The density of the midsole has been slightly increased to ensure better support and durability; however the addition of a full length SpEVA 65 lasting material and a 6mm Comfordry sockliner means that the shoe is as comfy under the foot as ever. An extra wide base and a high midsole top line serves to cradle the foot whilst a molded trusstic device and extended DuoMax posting ensures plenty of midfoot stability.
Changes to the upper include the addition of the popular bunion window and an extra long forefoot vamp to ensure plenty of room for the foot to spread out in the propulsion phase. These features combined with dual PHF in the rearfoot and a slightly roomier toe box further enhance fit and comfort resulting in a supportive shoe with an excellent fit and ride as the foot transitions from heel strike through to propulsion.
